WEB 2.0
Web 2.0 has definitely helped contribute to our generations fast paced world. I remember when my parents got our first Gateway computer and we were eventually able to get dialup, which my dad and I went downtown and paid for. It got to the point where we had to purchase two lines for the phone so someone could be on the computer and answer the phone without kicking someone off the internet. That was Web 1.0, Netscape, where you had to listen to scratching and dial tones when you clicking the shortcut on the desktop, now we are all able to look back and laugh, extremely hard, we are all what we thought were nerds. With Web 2.0 we have a quicker, way more interrelated internet. We now have Google searches where we don't have to wait but a second to have thousands of sites at our literal fingertips. Hyperlinks that are specific to your recent search items and hobbies are strategically placed on many of your pages. With this web 2.0 technology we can use auction type websites like Ebay and Amazon.com, because we don't have to wait 10 minutes to refresh a page. Web 2.0 has contributed many things to help the marketing world as well. There is a competitive advantage with Web 2.0, where companies are able to advertise to thousands of millions of people. Overall, I believe Web 2.o is guilty for turning a majority of our generation, even the less computer savvy people, into what we used to call nerds, we now use the computer for everything and we owe that to the ability to gain access to anything at the blink of an eyes. Web 2.o has helped us open new doors and link up to new markets, and this will continue to improve as web 2.0 develops.
